For the past 4 years, the Latino Outreach Program has continued to extend their outreach and contacts. The Latina/o Outreach office has an average of 36 recruitment/pipeline programs a year and makes contact with over 6,000 students. In the fall of 2010, we had the largest incoming class of U.S. Hispanic students in Pacific's history with 146 freshmen and 55 transfer student
Dr. Ines Ruiz-Huston, Latino Community Outreach Coordinator
Dr. Ines recruits and supports retention of Latina/o students at Pacific. She orchestrates our annual celebration of Hispanic heritage and many other cultural programs. She also developed our partnership with migrant education and other community projects.
Los Embajadores is a group of Latino students from the university who are bilingual in Spanish and English and form part of the program.
Dr. Ruiz-Huston and Los Embajadores are in charge of assisting the delivery of outreach programs and services targeting Latino populations and promoting enrollment through local schools and community organizations. They provide peer-advising services for high school students.
