Holiday ROAR - Annual Holiday party
President Eibeck announces the 3rd Annual Holiday ROAR
Kick off the holiday season with President Eibeck at her annual holiday event from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, at the DeRosa University Center. Holiday ROAR is open to faculty, staff, families and students and features the tree lighting, music, performances, comfort food and children's activities.
ROAR (Reach Out and Read) caps a month-long campus-wide book drive to benefit underprivileged children in San Joaquin County. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to drop off new children's books at the DeRosa University Center from Nov. 20 - Dec. 3. Books in Spanish are especially needed. Get together with your unit, department, residence hall or club and donate books on topics you're passionate about!
Your donations will benefit Reach Out and Read San Joaquin, a local nonprofit that works with pediatricians to hand out books to needy children during check-ups. Volunteers also work with families to make them feel more comfortable reading with their children. Holiday ROAR is aligned with the Beyond Our Gates early literacy campaign. Books are available for purchase in the book store.
The Staff Advisory Council and the Academic Council are co-sponsoring this event. Children's activities include a balloon artist, face painter, glitter tatooist, gingerbread crafts, and more.
McGeorge Law School is ROAR'ing
McGeorge is participating in the University of the Pacific's 3rd Annual Holiday ROAR - Reach Out and Read book drive running November 17 - December 10, 2014. They are requesting new or gently used books for children age 6-12 to help build literacy and support Reading Partners Sacramento. Donations can be dropped off at the festively decorated library book cart found in the Student Center.
