President Eibeck is delighted to announce the 2nd Annual Holiday ROAR!
Holiday ROAR is a month-long campus-wide book drive to benefit underprivileged children in San Joaquin County. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to drop off new children's books at the DeRosa University Center from October 21-December 4. Books in Spanish are especially needed. Get together with your unit, department, residence hall or club and donate books on topics you're passionate about! If we get 1,000 books or more, President Eibeck will give a special surprise to students.
Your donations will benefit Reach Out and Read (ROAR) San Joaquin, a local non-profit that works with pediatricians to hand out books to needy children during check-ups. Volunteers also work with families to make them feel more comfortable reading with their children. Holiday ROAR is aligned with the Beyond Our Gates early literacy campaign.
Make sure you're there on Wednesday, December 4, when President Eibeck throws a big holiday party in the DeRosa University Center to mark the end of the book drive and ring in the holidays. The Staff Advisory Council and the Academic Council are co-sponsoring this event. Students, faculty and staff - bring your kids and head over between 4 and 6:30 pm for snow, music, comfort food and fun. We will have a balloon artist, face painter, glitter tatooist, gingerbread crafts, and more. Fish out that crazy holiday sweater from Aunt Bea and enter our Ugly Holiday Sweater contest - our five secret judges may choose you as the winner! The winner will get $100 for their department or club's holiday party!
Let's get the holidays started off with a ROAR!
