Students
During Tedx San Joaquin, hosted by Pacific in October 2011, student Hamza Siddiqui '12 stood out among the many extraordinary presenters.  Hamza recited several original poems he had written addressing the Muslim-American experience and the different forms of racism and prejudice that Muslims face. The video of his presentation has logged more than 13,000 views on YouTube and sparked worldwide discussions. [ more ]

Alexis Duclos '13, traveled to Sacramento with a group of students to protest Governor Brown's proposal to reduce Cal Grants.  In addition to addressing the large crowd who descended on the capital, Duclos was published in The Sacramento Bee.  Reducing the grant amount will impact nearly one-third of Pacific students with a total loss of up to $5.7 million in financial aid.  Many of those students will be unable to afford the cost of college without a full Cal Grant. A record number of students received Fulbright scholarships, a prestigious program of the US State Department.  Nicholas Freeman '12, Julia Sasha Custer '12 and Karelli Cabral '12 were named Fulbright Scholars. [ more ]

Faculty
Cynthia Ostberg, PhD, was honored with the College of the Pacific's Faye and Alex G. Spanos Distinguished Teaching Award.  Dr. Ostberg has authored numerous books and articles and directs the Pacific Legal Scholars Program. [ more ]

Chris Sablynski, PhD, received this year's Pacific Alumni Association Faculty Mentor Award.  Nominations for the award are submitted by all members of the University community including students, alumni, faculty and administrators.  Dr. Sabylnski has been at the Eberhardt School of Business since 2009 and teaches courses in Organizational Behavior and Human Resources. [ more ]

Pacific MESA Group National Champions
