Strategic Planning

A new strategic planning process is underway at University of the Pacific. It is engaging a broad cross-section of the University community, including external stakeholders and friends of Pacific. We are developing a new strategic plan that gives Pacific more options and is more resilient to external changes, supported by a corresponding financial plan, school-level plans, and an implementation and assessment framework. The overall design of the process is depicted in a graphic.

The process has moved through several stages, from early environmental scanning, through the futuring efforts of faculty and staff, to the more recent symposium where "big ideas" about the University's next decade were explored. The outcomes of the Symposium can be found here. Over the coming months, the final events will be held and the drafting of the strategic planning documents will occur over the summer. The new plan should be ready for the community to review in fall of 2012.

The white paper, "Launching Strategic Planning for University of the Pacific," has been prepared in consultation with Donald M. Norris, Ph.D. and is provided here. The paper provides the background and context and presents a brief description of the framework, structure, and timeframes of the newly launched strategic planning process, using hyperlinks to access more extensive descriptions and support materials. A repository of resources is provided to support the ongoing strategic planning efforts and inform the University community. Download the full paper here .

There are a number of concurrent Planning Activities at Pacific underway.
