Minutes: Minutes for the November 15, 2011 meeting were approved as distributed.
Stockton Campus Academic Budget Presentation: Provost Maria Pallavicini reviewed FY12 budget allocations and presented FY13 budget requests for the Academic Division. She provided an update on FY12 allocations. Searches are underway for Assistant Professors in Chemistry and Biology. Searches are in the final stages for two new engineering faculty. An additional full-time Pacific Seminar instructor was hired. New staff positions included a financial aid counselor, two admissions coordinators, and administrative assistants in the Graduate School and the Conservatory. Additional funds were used to support library materials, clinical rotations for Pharmacy students, the Humanities Scholars Program and department chair compensation.
Provost Pallavicini outlined the steps in the process, which had been followed to develop the priorities list for the Academic Division. FY13 budget requests for the Academic Division included, in order of importance: 1) an additional faculty position in Accounting to meet new standards for accounting graduates; 2) an additional faculty position in the Physical Therapy program to meet accreditation concerns; 3) additional monies to support clinical rotations for Pharmacy students; 4) a faculty position in Engineering; 5) an additional Pacific Seminar faculty position; 6) a faculty position in Chemistry; 7) a faculty position in Brass Performance; 8) salary support for the Fletcher Jones Chair in the Eberhardt School of Business; 9) a faculty position in Sport Sciences; 10) operations support for recruiting and marketing; and 11) a Sport Sciences clinical coordinator.
Stockton Campus Budget Request Summary and Discussion: Perrot and Pearson handed out documents which included the following information: 1) FY8 to FY12 Divisional Base budgets (Salaries and Operating) including the percentage increase each year; and 2) an itemized list of the 68.75 FTE positions [6.0 FTE faculty and 62.75 staff] added in FY11 and FY12. Pearson reviewed the multi-step process that IPC members will use to make FY13 recommendations.
