Reports and Current Agenda Items:

Executive View of Marketing
Marketing Director, Richard Rojo presented his 90-Day Update of our Marketing and University Communications Department. The presentation focuses on Direction 15 of the University's Strategic Action Plan and this report is an initial assessment of marketing and communications related to our needs and priorities. The three main areas are: 1.) Build marketing capacities, 2.) Expand media relations and 3.) Build national visibility.

During the presentation a few key items reviewed were context, messaging, department assessment, internal communications, marketing recommendations, and budget. Initial priority recommendations are campus communications, web, web-based services, new print collateral, institutional advertising and emergency communications. Some marketing needs are not being met until positions are filled.

Retention, Persistence and Graduate Rates Analyses
Royce-Davis and Rogers presented a thorough report on student persistence at Pacific. The report's extensive findings ranged from, ethnicity, family incomes and gender. Comparisons with national cohorts were included in the data presented. Further research will aim to better determine the key factors in student attrition.  The group would like to know why students leave and how we can screen out those students that could have a higher chance of leaving Pacific.

Next meeting is May 20th in Taylor.

Adjourned: 4:04 p.m.
