Attending: Benedetti, Borlik, Cavanaugh, Chambers, Fletcher, Fox, Gluskin, Gilbertson (Chair), KruegerDevine, Meyers and Oppenheimer.

Absent: Stein

  1. Convening of Meeting and Approval of Minutes: The I.P.C. meeting were convened by Provost Gilbertson at 3:04 p.m. The minutes of January 25, 2000 were reviewed and approved.
  2. Provost Report. The Provost reported that he, Deans Oppenheimer and Benedetti will be in San Francisco for the I.P.C. meeting next week and will be joining Dr. Gluskin on the video conference so that the meeting can be held at the same time.
  3. Proposal from Athletic Department. Mr. Dunning reported on the financial impact of the proposal from the Athletic Department. Additional resources are being requested for Women’s Waterpolo and Soccer.
  4. Budget Deliberations were reflected in the "Confidential" memo attached to these minutes.
  5. 2000-2001 Budget Recommendations - Stockton Campus. There was a discussion of the "Draft 2" (1/31/00) document, a memorandum to the University Community. The Provost will revise the document with regard to the following suggestions:
    1. Under paragraph Budget Priority #1: Improved Faculty and Staff Salary Competitiveness:
      1. Faculty Salary Plan. In parenthetical sentence, it should read $202,000 as set aside for unit matching plans as they are achieved.
      2. Faculty/Staff Adjustment Pool. The word "faculty" should be removed from the final sentence.
      3. Part-time faculty. The word "most" should be added to the beginning of the sentence.
      4. Graduate Student Teaching Assistant Stipends. The following sentence should be added at the end of the paragraph: A 1% increase is recommended to match tuition.
