Three main goals of the Dental School were presented by Christoffersen:

  • Commitment to Excellence: Provide experiential learning opportunities for all students. Assess faculty, staff, and program efficiency and improve efficiency through professional development. Identify and promote hallmarks of teaching, scholarship and learning excellence.
  • New Market in Professional Education: Classes include lectures, simulation practice, on-line instruction, and hands-on experiences.

The Dental School is the only 3-year dental school in the country. Alumni participation is at 46% and the new dean will begin on July 1 of this year.

Discussion of University Plan 2008-2015: Values and Vision Statements

Brodnick presented an overview of the planning process which began last January with The Board of Regents approval. IPC reviewed draft one of the Pacific Rising planning document. After much discussion on the structure of the document and suggestions for editing specific phrases, it was concluded that the drafting team will continue editing to incorporate the IPC feedback. The draft two will be distributed before the next meeting.

Update on UP Meetings

Brodnick informed the Committee that 2 IPC members are needed to present to each department. IPC members may not present to their own department. A one page facilitators guide will be developed and distributed to presenters.
