Minutes: Minutes of the May 8th meeting were reviewed and approved.

The Powell Gift
Gilbertson described the relationship between the Powell's and the President and the gift that was generously donated. The amazing fact that this donation is the 29th largest gift to any university in the world. Mr. Powell donated the $100M gift without requesting how the money should be spent. Many options exist and the Powell's will consult on the final decision.

Program Review for Multicultural Programs/CIP/SUCCESS
Greigo discussed the recommendations for the three reviews. One recommendation was to divide up Multicultural Programs and CIP as it had languished when combined. The current staff have been offered positions within a new stucture for the following year. Next year, the unit will budget for full-time positions. Under the restructuring, John Carvana will be taking on programs for underserved students, therefore his title will now be Assistant to Vice President for Diversity and Community Engagement. The Women's Lounge and Gay Pride center will move to the McCaffery Center, centrally located to bring them closer to the center of campus.

FY 09-10 Budget Assumptions and Planning Guidelines
The committee reviewed Planning Guidelines. A major revision of the document is necessary given the adoption of Pacific Rising. The six Commitments will be placed in the priorities section. The item on revenue generation should also include priorities. Next year's budget request cycle will need to reference the the PR Commitments.

The committee expressed concern that 3% annual salary increases based solely on merit does not recognize that cost of living increases; and erodes the impact and overtime. In faculty hiring, some strong candidates are lost owing to non-competitive salaries.

Gilbertson and Brodnick will distribute the next draft in time for the next meeting.
