Update From the President

Dear faculty and staff,

I have heard many questions about budget reallocations and even been asked if decisions are already being made. Rest assured, there are no specific budget reallocations being decided now. Instead, I am working with Cabinet, IPC and deans on a thoughtful and transparent process for the entire University to use to evaluate programs, make priorities and identify budget dollars for strategic investments. The process will be designed by the end of this semester, and then we will use that process to make decisions from fall 2013 to spring 2014. I will announce a specific timeline after my discussions with IPC and deans this month.

Meanwhile, we've added an FAQ and videos from recent budget meetings to my budget website to help clarify the reallocation process. There's also a web form for submitting suggestions or questions. Please keep the comments coming!
