At the University of Pacific it is our belief that diversity and inclusion are essential to the fulfillment of our institutional mission. Diversity is an indispensable component of academic excellence.  It enriches the educational experience by allowing all of us to share knowledge, develop critical thinking skills, and understand new perspectives and ideas that are grounded in all of the ways we are different and unique.

Biography:

EDUCATION
J.D., Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California at Berkeley

B.S. Criminology, minor in La Raza Studies, California State University Fresno

Assistant Provost Arturo Ocampo has been a member of the Pacific community since August 2008.  The Assistant Provost reports to the Provost and is responsible for diversity initiatives in the Academic Unit and collaborates with other units on university-wide diversity initiatives.  Primary duties include diversity in hiring, providing resources and support for diversity in the curriculum, providing support for pre-tenure women and faculty of color, creating a campus climate that embraces diversity, and the development of plans, policies and procedures to enhance diversity and inclusive excellence.
