Director of the Office of Field Experience

The Director of Field Experience is a 10 - 11 month administrative position. As appropriate, the Director may also have a non-tenure track faculty appointment.  The Director places approximately 50-100 student teachers in two grade levels each annually.  He/she meets with and orients all cooperating teachers and principals, monitors all placements, arranges for University supervision, supervises student teachers, and oversees the completion of "Performance Assessments for California Teachers" (PACT) for all student teachers.  The Director of Field Experience hires qualified personnel for University supervision and teaches EDUC 170 and 172.  Other duties as assigned include: providing professional development opportunities for cooperating teachers; ensuring compliance with all state laws; and serving as the primary liaison between schools and the University on matters related to student teaching.

Qualifications:  Candidates must have at least a Master's degree in a field of education, some teaching and/or administrative experience in K-12 public school districts, experience supervising teacher education candidates in course-related and/or culminating student teaching or internship, good administrative and managerial skills, the ability to speak and write articulately, and well-honed interpersonal communication skills.
