6.2.11 Library Committee (F, S)

Approved (before 1980) by Academic Council

The Library Committee is the primary body designed to encourage and facilitate faculty utilization of and planning for the Library.

The committee communicates to the University community the needs, problems, and the progress of the Library.

The committee may make recommendations with regard to Library services, facilities, budget, and personnel.

The Library Committee consists of the following members: Three from the College of the Pacific, representing the humanities, natural sciences, and social and behavioral sciences; and one from each of the professional schools on the Stockton campus (faculty members are nominated and elected by their respective faculties for three-year overlapping terms. Faculty members are replaced so as to maintain the balanced representation described above); a graduate student named by the Graduate Students' Association and an undergraduate student named by ASUOP are appointed for one-year terms.

The Dean of the Graduate School, the Dean of Libraries, and the Chair of the library faculty are ex officio, voting members.

Six members of the committee constitute a quorum; the Chair is elected by the members of the committee from among all members of the committee.
