IV.     Program Changes

School of Education

          Administration and Leadership

Norena Badway gave clarification for revising the Major MA in Educational Administration with a Specialization in Student Affairs.   The current 48-unit program exceeds the unit requirement for the majority of master's level graduate programs at Pacific and also requires significantly more units than other graduate programs in Educational Administration.   The reduction to 36 units (national norm) creates greater consistency with other Master's level programs within the Benerd School of Education and at Pacific.   Courses will be offered at a 2-year cycle.

Motion: Paul Kozina moved , Jerry Post seconded to modify the current Major MA in Educational Administration with a Specialization in Student Affairs to include the unit reduction from 48 to 36 units.

Motion unanimously approved.

College of the Pacific

Mel Thomas was available to answer questions from the committee.   He clarified that the submitted form would revise the existing Major and Minor in Classical Studies with the deletion of the emphasis in Latin and Greek.   The proposed would be Major: Classics.

Theatre Arts

Cathie McClellan stated the revision is necessary to (1) bring the course numbering system in line with the odd/every year and even/alternating years guidelines, (2) to give courses titles more specific to content and more acceptable to graduate programs and (3) to structure the program more for students, allowing for better academic planning in terms of student graduation and faculty teaching loads.   The freshman class is currently being advised using these guidelines.
