Standards & Guidelines

The IT Security Office is responsible for developing, deploying, maintaining, and evolving the security architecture, processes, procedures, providing advice on the development of security standards, and the development of security guidelines for the University.

Network Attached Security Standards
Pacific has developed this Security standard for Network Attached Systems based upon security best practices as well as standards currently in use at other institutions.

Information Handling Guidelines
These guidelines address the handling of data - whether in hard copy or electronic format; stored on desktop machines or mobile devices; or moved to media such as CD, tape, flash memory, or paper - for all members of the Pacific community, including staff, faculty, students, affiliates, volunteers, and vendors.

Multifunction Peripheral Guidelines
The University of Pacific Community has identified a need to utilize Multifunction Peripheral devices (MFP) throughout the campus as a way of reducing the need of multiple devices, realizing cost savings on toner, ease of use, less impact on the environment, and efficiencies of process.  An MFP is sometimes called a multifunction network device (MFD) or all-in-one (AIO) device and typically incorporates printing, copying, scanning and faxing capabilities.  Because management interfaces for MFPs vary, even within the same product line, this document defines security guidelines for any MFP used at the University.
