Pacific WebEx

What Is Webex?

WebEx is a web conferencing tool that enables faculty to extend teaching beyond the walls of the classroom. Through the video conferencing experience, students can participate in discussion, see class content, and present material from any compatible computer or mobile device. Aside from using WebEx to facilitate distance learning, faculty can use WebEx to:

  • Hold office hours and other one-on-one student sessions
  • Bring in guest speakers
  • Hold final review sessions
  • Record and make available final review sessions (All recorded sessions require an announcement to participants at the start of the session that recording is enabled)
  • Attend administrative meetings remotely


In addition, WebEx is a valuable tool for staff to conduct virtual administrative meetings, enhancing collaboration between the three cities. Using WebEx features, staff can conduct scheduled as well as ad-hoc meetings regardless of campus location. WebEx consists of the following modules:

Meeting Center: Used for regular meetings with anyone, regardless of location. Meeting Center allows everyone to see, hear, and view the same information at the same time. Most faculty, staff and students will host meetings and conduct blended learning classes with Meeting Center.

Training Center: Enables professors to teach online more naturally by using high-definition video for face-to-face interaction. Audio, video, data sharing, and breakout sessions allow for a collaborative and individualized learning experience. Students can learn at their convenience through on-demand classes and take advantage of hands-on labs to support practical application training.

Support Center: Enables remote technical support to users anywhere in the world, on both Mac and Windows computers. Support Center allows IT staff to view users' screens, collect system information, and control desktops. It can be used with external or internal partners, including vendors who are supporting Pacific applications. Support Center delivers on-demand support and desktop control/sharing to fix technical problems.
