To help promote and encourage staff development opportunities, SAC has been granted a Staff Development Scholarship Fund. Each quarter, staff may apply for a scholarship toward training that will equip or enhance skills directly related to the employee's position and support Pacific's mission.

* Deadline dates are typically the same every year. However, the schedule above is different than in the past. If the dates fall on a weekend (Saturday or Sunday) then the due date will be the Monday immediately following. In the case where Monday is an observed holiday, the due date will be the Tuesday immediately following the holiday.
Q: What is the Scholarship for?
A: This scholarship was designed to support the professional development efforts of both exempt and non-exempt staff employed at Pacific. It can be applied to academic courses, specialized training, professional development seminars or conferences.
Q: How much can I apply for?
A: The actual scholarship award is a maximum of $325 per recipient and may be for all or part of the amount requested However, applicant will not receive funding in the event that the committee cannot give the full amount if the applicant does not indicate by checking the corresponding box that this option is acceptable.
Q: Should I discuss my desire to apply for a scholarship with my supervisor?
A: Yes. While the scholarship can be used to help support an employee's professional development goals, staff should consult with their immediate supervisor as his/her approval is required before submitting a completed application.
Q: If my application is approved how will I get the funds?
A: With the proper supporting documentation, the scholarship award can be dispersed directly to the organization/institution sponsoring the professional development activity -OR- if the professional development activity was paid for in advance, the approved funding amount can be dispersed as a reimbursement. Q: What if my professional development activity is canceled?
A: In the event that the awarded amount is not used; then the funds should be returned to SAC to go back into the scholarship fund.
Q: What are the criteria for eligibility for the scholarship?
A: An applicant must be a benefit-eligible exempt or non-exempt staff employee, have successfully completed his/her introductory period and not have been a SAC Scholarship recipient within the past 24 months.
