Student Giving Program

The Pacific Fund is looking for original videos, created by students, thanking our donors for their financial support to Pacific.
Contest Criteria
Demonstrate in the video your appreciation for the donors who have supported University of the Pacific (and the impact for students via financial aid, scholarships, programs, etc.). Content should display creativity, spirit, and adhere to messaging. But, that messaging is almost entirely up to you. All we require is that you adhere to the following video guidelines:
- Video is to be one-to-two minutes in length
- Videos can be live action or animated
- Videos must be in English or have English subtitles
- Videos cannot contain nudity or profanity
Video Submission Dates & Rules
- Submissions will be accepted beginning Monday, February 06, 9:00a PST
- Deadline for submitting videos will be Friday, March 30, 2012, 5:00p PST
Videos can be submitted to Pacific Fund by
- Personal delivery to Pacific Fund Office in Hand Hall, Room 100
- Via e-mail at srodriguez1@pacific.edu
- Videos are to be submitted on a flash drive or disc
- Include your full name, student ID number, mobile phone number, and e-mail address when submitting video
Contest entrants must be currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students at Pacific. Each entrant must be the original author of all parts of the video or have permission to use copyrighted material. If the video is the work of two (2) or more people, one (1) person will act as the principal for the submission of the video and acceptance of any prize. Each entrant must have the consent of all parties displayed and/or heard in video to enter this contest. Students are responsible for any production costs associated with their video. Submitted videos will remain the property of Pacific Fund.
Prizes
- First Place: $500
- Second Place: $250
- Fan Favorite Winner: $250
The winners will first be notified by the Pacific Fund Office; then announced via InsidePacific, Campus E-News and featured in The Pacifican Newspaper and Pacific Fund Website, and Pacific Fund Facebook page.
The Judging Process
For selection of first and second place winners, judges will be chosen from around campus and will include Pacific Fund Advisory Board Members. These judges will choose the top two videos from all eligible submissions. Judging will be based on Pacific messaging (40%), creativity (30%), and potential commercial use/viral marketing use (30%).
The Fan Favorite Award winner will be determined by the video receiving the highest number of votes received. Videos will be posted on the Pacific Fund Facebook page, along with a direct link to SurveyMonkey.com for voting. Students and Pacific alumni will be notified the week of April 09, 2012 to make their votes; and will have two weeks to complete the survey and select which video is their favorite.
Fine Print
By submitting a video entry in Pacific Fund's Student Philanthropy Video Contest, Entrant represents and warrants that the video and all content in the video (the "Work") is Entrant's own, original, unpublished work (this includes any script and soundtrack) or that the Entrant has obtained all necessary licenses to use the works of third parties. Entrant represents and warrants that he/she will obtain all necessary licenses and releases for all the material found in the Work. At the request of the University of the Pacific and/or Pacific Fund ("UOP/PF"), Entrant will provide all documents evidencing Entrant's ownership of all elements of the Work, including any executed licenses and releases.
Entrant hereby irrevocably conveys, transfers and exclusively assigns to UOP/PF all rights, title and interests in and to the Work submitted for the Student Philanthropy Video Contest, including all copyrights in and to the Work. Entrant agrees and acknowledges that UOP/PF shall have the right to obtain and exclusively hold, in its own name, and to license and assign to others all copyrights, which may be available for the video, in any and all media and/or formats. Entrant agrees to give UOP/PF any and all assistance reasonably required to protect UOP/PF ownership and exclusive proprietary rights in and to the Work, including the execution of any instruments necessary to evidence, formalize and/or confirm UOP/PF ownership of the Work and/or to execute any instruments required to register copyrights, assignment of copyrights and/or any other documents deemed reasonably necessary by UOP/PF.
Entrant understands and, without limiting the rights granted above, hereby irrevocably grants UOP/PF and third-parties licensed by UOP/PF the rights to reproduce, market, distribute, publicly display, publicly perform, and otherwise commercially exploit the Work for use in fundraising, advertising or promotional campaigns conducted by, or on behalf of UOP/PF and any other UOP/PF affiliates.
Entrant warrants that the Work does not violate or infringe any copyright or other proprietary right of any third party. Entrant will defend, indemnify and hold the UOP/PF, its staff, directors, agents, and affiliates harmless from any and all claims, liabilities, costs and damages (including attorney's fees) arising from or in connection with any claims that the Work infringes any patent, copyright, trade secret or other proprietary right of any third party.
Taxing Liability of Cash Prizes Received
The prize may be subject to tax withholding and the University may be required to report your winnings to the tax authorities. In the event the University is required to report your winnings, prior to disbursement, the University will collect your tax identification information.
