    President Eibeck to Guest Conduct at Pops and Picnic Concert

    Join conductor Peter Jaffe and the Stockton Symphony for a spectacular and glamorous evening at the 21st annual Pops & Picnic concert entitled "Hollywood Hits." The celebrated event is guaranteed to entertain with sensational music, delectable food, fine wines, elegant martinis, and tantalizing auction and raffle items. This year's "Hollywood Hits" event will be held Friday, May 7, 2010 at 8:00pm at the Alex G. Spanos Center at the University of the Pacific, with doors opening at 5:30pm. Tickets range from $20 to $55 with a boxed supper option for $10. Main floor table seating is $80 per person with a buffet dinner option for $25.     Each year the Symphony offers someone in the community the opportunity to be the honorary Pops Baton Conductor, who conducts "The Stars and Stripes Forever March" at the Pops & Picnic concert.  This year, the Symphony is proud to announce that the University of the Pacific's 24th President, Pamela A. Eibeck, has been selected as the 2010 Pops Baton Conductor. 

    The "Hollywood Hits" program will evoke the action and thrills from cinematic adventures alongside romantic film scores from James Bond, Star Wars, Singin' in the Rain, and Gone with the Wind. The lineup will also include blockbuster themes from Ghostbusters, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Pirates of the Caribbean, and so many more. Baritone Ralph Cato, who has traveled the world singing with Riverdance, will provide rockin' and croonin' vocals that will enhance the festivities.

    The Stockton Symphony is excited to host the 2010 Pops & Picnic concert at a new venue - Alex G. Spanos Center at the University of the Pacific. A new location will bring new and exciting changes such as expanded reserved seating choices, additional handrails for access to the floor, access to an elevator for guests needing assistance, round tables for main floor seating, and wine and martini bars conveniently located for all guests. 

    Pops & Picnic is the Symphony's largest fundraising event of the year. This year, the "Hollywood Hits" concert sponsor is Bank of Stockton. Additional sponsors include Bank of the West, Bank of America, and Port of Stockton. The Pops & Picnic media sponsor is the Record

    Buffet dinners and boxed suppers can be pre-ordered by April 28 by calling the Symphony office at (209) 951-0196. Guests may also bring their own food to the event.  Martinis and wine from several local vintners will be available for purchase. It is the Symphony's policy that no outside alcohol is to be brought into the event.
