Pacific Men's Tennis: Pacific Falls on Road to Broncos

Apr 9, 2010

Despite coming away with the doubles point against Santa Clara University (SCU) Friday afternoon, the Pacific mens tennis team could not pull out a singles win and fell 6-1 in its final road game of the regular season. The Tigers dropped to 5-10 overall with the loss.

Pacific rebounded from a loss at the No. 1 doubles position to pull out wins at two and three. Senior Vegerd Veskimagi (Saku, Estonia) and sophomore Karl-Erik Paaro (Tallinn, Estonia) earned their third straight doubles win. The pair defeated Kyle Dandan and Nicolas Vinel (8-6) to remain undefeated in No. 2 doubles.

Also picking up wins were juniors Renan Delsin (Santa Cruz da Conceicao, Brazil) and Fernando Ristow (Curitiba, Brazil). The duo defeated Grant Fleming and Tom Pham (8-4) at the No. 3 position to help earn the doubles point for Pacific.

Unfortunately, no Tigers were able to find their groove in singles play and Santa Clara swept all six spots to close the match.

Pacific returns home after going 2-3 on a five-game road trip. They will face Portland on April 10 at 3 p.m. The Pilots, working on a six-game road trip of their own, are 8-7 overall this season, 0-3 on the road.
