Pacific Field Hockey: Pacific Puts Two More on 2010 Field Hockey Roster

    Apr 22, 2010

Head Coach Linda MacDonald has announced the signing of Maggie Grindatti (Saco, Maine) and Melissa Maultsby (Fallbrook, Calif.) to the 2010 Pacific field hockey team. The pair join Emily Tregoning (San Jose, Calif.), Alohilani Ornellas (Escondido, Calif.) and Katelyn Tatar (Bonita Calif.) in the Tiger class of 2014.

Both Maggie and Melissa will bring a positive attitude and outstanding work ethic to our program, said MacDonald. I am very excited about the potential of this entire recruiting class.

Grindatti, a three-sport athlete from Cheverus High School, is a four year varsity field and ice hockey player. She spent her first three years in the field starting at forward before moving to the midfield as a senior captain. On the ice, Grindatti was named First Team All-State in 2008 and helped lead her team to the 2010 Maine State Championship title. She is a three-year varsity softball player and intends to major in sports medicine at Pacific.

Believing Grindatti has leadership qualities, MacDonald stated that she has a Division I mentality and all the qualities of a top athlete. She continued by saying she is confident that [Grindatti] will develop into a top player for Pacific.

Maultsby scored 25 goals in her final season at Fallbrook Union High School, finishing her field hockey career with 10 assists. She started two seasons for the Warriors and participated in two Futures and a Regional Futures Tournament. The two-time Honorable Mention Avocado League member also earned Outstanding Sportsmanship from the San Diego Field Hockey Officials and helped her team to a CIF Semifinal appearance. Maultsby is heavily active in her community, participating in FFA and Relay for Life. She is a utility player on the softball team and plans to pursue a career in physical education.

I have seen a dramatic transformation in Melissa over the past two years, added MacDonald. She has developed into a top player with the ability to play anywhere on the field. She has good work skills and athleticism.
