    Men and Women's Swimming: Swimming Finishes Fourth in the Big West Conference

    The men's and women's swim team concluded the Big West Conference Championships on Saturday, February 20. The two teams finished fourth overall.

    In the first event of the day, freshman Becca Wyant (Redmond, Wash.) swam a 2:15.72 in the 200 Back.

    Finishing seventh in the 200 Breast was senior Devonie Migues (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) with a time of 2:21.44. Freshman Mallory McGowan (Colusa, Calif.) posted a time of 2:22.12 for a ninth place finish. Migues would take seventh in the finals with a time of 2:20.11.

    In the 200 Fly, sophomore Elena Walterman (Framingham, Mass.) captured a second-place finish for the Tigers with a time of 2:03.55. Senior Melissa McGhee (Elk Grove, Calif.) took third with a time of 2:04.29. Both swimmers decreased their times in the final race. Walterman again took second with a time of 2:02.30, while McGhee finished fourth with a time of 2:03.81.

    In the 1650 Free, sophomore Jayme Swalin (Kenmore, Wash.) touched at 16:49.97 to take second. Completing the mile in 16:54.97 was senior KC Albiston (Salt Lake City, Utah).

    For the men, sophomore Kevin Byers (Puyallup, Wash.) finished eighth with a time of 1:51.05 in the 200 Back. He took eighth in the final round with a time of 1:51.22.

    Taking 10th in the 100 Free was junior Steven Woods (Walnut Creek, Calif.), posting a time of 45.87.

    Sophomore Nathan LeRoy (Arlington Heights, Ill.) finished sixth in the preliminary round of the 200 Breast with a time of 2:03.65 and took a sixth in the finals with a time of 2:03.54.

    Freshman Sean Dunnigan (Bel Air, Md.) finished seventh in the finals for the 200 Fly with a time of 1:54.01. Freshman RJ Barton (Modesto, Calif.) touched at 1:55.91 to take eighth in the finals.

    Senior Aljaz Ojstersek (Ljubljana, Slovenia) placed fifth in the finals of the 1650 Free with a time of 15.51.73.
