    Women's Water Polo: Tigers Pick Up Fourth Win of the Season, Defeat Colorado State 9-4

    Pacific's women's water polo team picked up its second win of the weekend defeating Colorado State 9-4.With the win the Tigers improve to 4-4 on the season while the Rams fall to 2-7 on the year.

    In the first quarter the game remained scoreless until freshman Jasmine Myles (Auckland, New Zealand) scored her first goal of the contest at the 3:28 spot to put the Tigers up 1-0. Pacific quickly took the 3-0 lead on back-to-back goals from junior Dara Tawarahara(Honolulu, Hawaii) and sophomore Allison Kosich (Stockton, Calif.) at the 2:54 and 2:12 spots respectively. The Tiger defense held Colorado State scoreless until the :31 mark when the Rams found the back of the net to make it a 3-1 game.

    Pacific opened the second quarter regaining its three point lead when Myles found the back of the net with 7:43 left on the clock. Colorado State cut Pacific's lead in half at the 5:39 spot but the Myles responded with her second goal of the quarter to make it a 5-2 game with 2:17 left in the half. Pacific's lead was cut to two at the 1:58 point when the Rams scored a goal to end the half.

    With 4:18 on the clock in the third quarter Myles put the Tigers up 6-3 as she found the back of the net on a 5-meter penalty shot. Myles struck again at the 2:16 mark with her fifth goal of the contest to give Pacific the four point lead. The Tiger defense stepped up in the quarter, holding the Rams offense scoreless.

    In the final frame the Tigers had back-to-back goals from juniors Courtney Boettger(Stockton, Calif.) and Melissa Loper (Napa, Calif.) to take the 9-3 lead. Colorado State ended the game scoring its final goal on a 5-meter penalty shot with :01 on the clock to make it a 9-4 contest. Freshman Brooke Millar (Auckland, New Zealand) recorded five saves in the quarter for the Tigers.

    The Tigers were led by freshman Jasmine Myles (Auckland, New Zealand) who notched five goals in the contest. FreshmanBrooke Millar (Auckland, New Zealand) picked up eight saves in the cage for Pacific.

     

    Pacific concludes action at the Road Runner Invite at 3:05 p.m. as they take on Occidental.
