    Women's Waterpolo: Tigers Finish Weekend Undefeated, Down Santa Clara 9-4

    The Pacific women's water polo team defeated Santa Clara 9-4. With the win the Tigers improved to 10-4 on the year while Santa Clara fell to 7-7 on the season.

    Junior Meara McCarthy (Simsbury, Conn.) opened the first quarter scoring a goal at the 7:16 mark to give Pacific the 1-0 lead but Santa Clara countered 15 seconds later to tie the game at one goal apiece. Junior Dara Tawarahara (Honolulu, Hawai'i) found the back of the net with 2:52 left on the clock to put the Tigers up by one.


    In the second quarter the Broncos tied the game at 2-2 at the 4:26 mark however Pacific regained its one point lead on a goal from freshman Jasmine Myles (Auckland, New Zealand) at the 3:19 point. Junior Siobhan Larsen (Mundelein, Ill.) helped Pacific extend its lead to two with 1:15 left in the half.

    Santa Clara began the third quarter scoring a goal at the 6:27 point to make it a 4-3 game. Tawarahara scored her second goal of the contest with 2:38 on the clock to make it a 5-3 game while freshman Brooke Millar (Auckland, New Zealand) picked up three saves in the quarter.

    In the final frame Tawarahara gave Pacific the three point advantage at the 7:43 mark. Myles then scored her second goal of the game at the 4:43 point to put the Tigers up by four. The Broncos scored their last goal of the contest with 3:45 left to play to make it a 7-4 game. Pacific ended the game with back-to-back goals from sophomore Allison Kosich (Stockton, Calif.) and Tawarahara at the 3:20 and 2:32 points respectively.

    The Tigers were led by junior Dara Tawarahara (Honolulu, Hawai'i) who notched four goals in the game for Pacific. Freshman Brooke Millar (Auckland, New Zealand) had seven saves it the cage for Pacific.

    Pacific returns to action March 6-7 at the Cal Lutheran Invite in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
