    Men's Swimming: Tigers Fall to Cardinal, 157-92

    In its first meet of 2010, the Pacific men's swim team was defeated by Stanford 157-92. With the loss the Tigers fall to 1-6 on the season.

    The men's relay team consisting of Danny Platow (Westport, Conn.), Chris Weber (Valencia, Calif.), David Hernandez (Chico, Calif.) and Steven Woods (Walnut Creek, Calif.) started the day for the Tigers with a third place finish in the 400 Medley Relay with a time of 3:38.39. Woods also touched the wall with a time of 21.91 in the 50 Free for the fourth place spot and came in fifth in the 100 Free finishing in 48.52.

    Weber also swam the 100 Breast, finishing with a time of 1:01.75 coming in fourth. Finishing fifth behind Weber was senior Patrick Walton (Lodi, Calif.) who touched the wall in 1:03.48. Walton also tied Bobby Bollier of Stanford for the number two spot in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:15.09. In the 100 Fly, Weber and David Hernandez (Chico, Calif.) finished back-to-back for the top two spots with times of 55.32 and 56.61 respectively.

    In his first event of the day, junior Aljaz Ojstersek (Ljubljana, Slovenia) just missed the top five in the 1650 Free touching the wall in 15:46.94 for sixth place. Ojstersek went on to claim the top spot in the 500 Free with a time of 4:53.53. Rounding out the top four in the 500 Free for Pacific were Bart Platow (Westport, Conn.), Zack Zlotoff (San Jose, Calif.) and Tyler Hannis (Santa Rosa, Calif.) with times of 4:57.03, 4:58.85 and 5:04.28 respectively. Hannis also claimed a fifth place spot in the 200 Free (1:48.36) and 200 Back (2:01.23).

    Sophomore Kevin Byers (Puyallup, Wash.) touched the wall in 56.01 in the 100 Back for a fifth place finish. Freshman RJ Barton(Modesto, Calif.) came in fifth in the 200 Fly for the Tigers with a time of 2:04.22. Barton also claimed the top spot in the 400 IM with a time of 4:24.57. He was followed by Danny Platow(Westport, Conn.), Sean Dunnigan (Bel Air, Md.) and Chris Berg(Chico, Calif.) to round out the top four with times of 4:26.73, 4:29.68 and 4:40.80 respectively.

    In the final event of the day, the men's relay team finished first in the 200 Free Relay touching the wall in 1:30.97.

    The Tigers continue action Saturday, Jan. 16, in Davis, Calif., as the Tigers take on UC Davis at 1 p.m.
