    Pacific women's swimming: Pacific Drops 148-113 Dual Meet against San Jose State

    The women's swim team was defeated by the San Jose State Spartans, 148-113, on Saturday, January 23. With the loss the Tigers drop to 4-7 on the season.

    In her first event of the afternoon, sophomore Jayme Swalin (Kenmore, Wash.) earned a first place finish in the 1000 Free with a time of 10:26.00. Senior KC Albiston (Salt Lake City, Utah) touched at 10:37.00 to finish third.

    Later in the day, Swalin posted another first place finish for her time of 5:05.95 in the 500 Fee. Albiston recorded another third-place finish with a time of 5:12.17.

    In the 200 Free, sophomore Elena Walterman (Framingham, Mass.) swam a 1:57.35 to take third, with freshman Megan Machynia (Valencia, Calif.) finishing at 2:00.04 to take fourth.

    Freshman Mallory McGowan (Colusa, Calif.) touched first in the 100 Breast at 1:05.37. Sophomore Lia Santini (Bothell, Wash.) finished fourth with a time of 1:09.80.

    Senior Melissa McGhee (Elk Grove, Calif.) earned Pacific a first place finish with her time of 2:06.06 in the 200 Fly. She later took second in the 200 Back with a time of 2:10.41.

    Senior Devonie Migues (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) swam a 2:20.83 to touch first in the 200 Breast. With her time of 2:08.90 in the 200 IM, she earned another first-place finish. Freshman Allie Vetterlein (Seattle, Wash.) finished second with a time of 2:11.59.


    Walterman captured a second place finish in the 100 Fly, posting a time of 58.24. Freshman Becca Wyant (Redmond, Wash.) took third with her time of 59.58. Machynia was the next to finish at 1:00.14.

    The Tigers will be back in action on Saturday, January 30 for "senior day" and the last home meet of the 2010 season. Pacific will be taking on UC Santa Barbara for a 11:00pm start at Chris Kjeldsen Pool.
