    Pacific Women's Tennis: Tigers Open Spring Season at UNLV Quad-Match

    Opening its spring campaign on the road this weekend, the Pacific womens tennis team is looking start 2010 off with wins at the UNLV Quad-Match. Pacific will match up with Weber State, New Mexico State and host UNLV in three straight days of competition from January 22-24. This is the third straight year these teams have met to open the spring season.

     

    The Tigers face off against Weber State to begin the weekend on Friday. Pacific swept the Wildcats last year 7-0 to earn its first win of the season.

     

    They then take on No. 41 UNLV on Saturday before closing out the competition on Sunday against New Mexico State.

     

    Junior Jenifer Widjaja (Sao Roque, Sao Paulo, Brazil) is coming off a strong fall season where her 11-4 record helped earn a No. 60 ranking. The Tigers will be looking to her and senior Sasha Fisher (Southampton, Bermuda) to lead them to victory. Fisher finished her fall season with an 8-3 record.

     

    The hosting Rebels have two players ranked top 50 in the country, Jana Albers (44) and Kristina Nedeltcheva (50). The player to watch from New Mexico State is No. 110 Sophia Marks.

     

    All contests begin at 10 a.m. and will be played at UNLVs Feritta Tennis Complex. Fans can check out Tiger scores and results on pacifictigers.com following each days competition.

    Saturday: UNLV, 10 a.m.
