    Pacific Field Hockey Loses a Tough Game to Miami (Ohio)

    The Pacific Field Hockey team lost to the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks 8-0 Sunday, August 29th in a game played at Maxwell Family Field on the campus of UC Berkeley. The Tigers conceded a goal early and did not recover.

    For Miami (Ohio), Mary Hull scored in the 3rd minute to open the offense for the RedHawks. She would later add another goal and an assist to cap a five point day. Sarah Meuller recorded the shutout in goal while collecting two saves.

    Midway through the first period, senior Kelly Perkins (Gilroy, Calif) and freshman Alohilani Ornellas (Vista, Calif.) mounted a counter attack that was thwarted. Late in the second half, Perkins again got free and set up fellow senior Sarah Miceli (Los Gatos, Calif) whose shot went wide to the left.

    On defense, junior Lauren Jeanot (San Jose, Calif.) recorded her first defensive save of the season, and the team's second on the year. Sophomore Ashlee Schlesier (San Diego, Calif.) and Senior Christina Niccum (Simi Valley, Calif.) split time in goal for the Tigers.

    The Tigers are back in action Saturday, September 4th against No. 7 ranked Michigan State. The Tigers will host the Spartans at Stanford.
