Pacific Men's Tennis - Lucas Resigns From Head Tennis Coach Position

    Jun 25, 2010

University of the Pacific men's tennis coach Matt Lucas has announced his resignation to take a coaching position with South Carolina.

In Lucas' two years the Tigers compiled a record of 22-18, finishing third in 2009 and second in 2010 at the Big West Championships.

"It was a great two years at Pacific and I want to thank Lynn King for the opportunity to direct the tennis program during that span," said Lucas. "We accomplished some great things in that time culminating with a high ranking of #52. It was a tough decision to leave but the chance to coach at an SEC school and to work with one of my close friends was too much to pass up. Thanks for all the support for our program over the past two years, I will be keeping up with the Tigers for years to come!"

"I want to thank Matt for his time with Pacific Tennis," said University of the Pacific Director of Athletics Lynn King. "I wish him well in his future endeavors."
