Pacific Men's Basketball - Pacific's Season Continues In CollegeInsider.com Tournament
"We are happy to be a part of the CIT again," said Tiger head coach Bob Thomason. "We had a great time in the tournament last year, and it's good to renew another WCC rivalry."
Pacific advanced to the semi-finals of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament last season, picking up home wins over Portland and Idaho before falling at Bradley.
The Tigers finished the regular season at 20-11 and tied for the Big West Conference title at 12-4. Loyola Marymount enter the postseason at 18-15 on the season, posting a 15-game turnaround from a three-win season from a year ago and finished third in the West Coast Conference.
Pacific trails the all-time series with Lions 24-23, with the last meeting an 88-85 LMU victory in 2006. LMU will be the fifth West Coast Conference team that the Tigers will face this season. The Tigers are 3-2 against WCC teams this year.
The tournament consists of 15 games: Eight first-round games, four second-round games, two semi-final games and a championship game. In an effort to minimize travel and limit class time missed, teams will be bracketed geographically.
The second round is slated for next week, with information about seeding and sites determined after Wednesday's games.
