    Pacific Men's Waterpolo: Alex Malkis Named MPSF Mikasa Player Of The Week

    Freshman Alex Malkis (Yoqneam, Israel) of Pacific's men's water polo team has been named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Mikasa Player of the Week on Tuesday, November 8, 2010. This is the first time Malkis has earned the award in his career after tallying 26 saves, three steals and one assist in two games. He currently has 170 saves in 20 games for an 8.50 saves per game average, which is second in the MPSF.

    Malkis had 11 saves in Pacific's 8-7 win over No. 6 UC Santa Barbara on Sunday, November 8, and helped the Tigers earn their second MPSF win on the season. He also had 15 saves in Pacific's 14-7 win over No. 11 Santa Clara on Friday, November 5. In Pacific's two contests over the weekend, opponents went a combined 2-for-18 on man up opportunities against Malkis.

    Alex and the Tigers return to action on Saturday, November 13 when they host California at 12 pm. On this day the Tigers will honor seniors Jeff Hoornaert (Stockton, Calif.), T.J. Friedman (Fairfield, Calif.), Hector Lam Jr. (San Diego), Joey Gullikson (Sonoma, Calif.) andAustin Delong (Houston, Texas) as they will be making their final appearance at Chris Kjeldsen Pool.
