    Pacific Men's Waterpolo: No. 7 Pacific Hosts No. 11 Santa Clara University, No. 6 UC Santa Barbara

    In the latest national poll released by the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA), Pacific's men's water polo team remained ranked as the No. 7 team in the nation.

    Weekend Recap
    Last weekend the Tigers traveled to southern California for Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) action and took on No. 2 USC and No. 5 UC Irvine. On Oct. 30 against the Trojans, freshman Balazs Erdelyi (Eger, Hungary) tallied Pacific's first of three goals during the second half to help the Tigers overcome a three point deficit. Junior Tom Koning(Poway, Calif.) then scored back-to-back goals at the start of the fourth quarter to tie the game at 8-8. However with 1:26 remaining in regulation USC scored its final goal of contest while blocking a shot from sophomore Goran Tomasevic (Split, Croatia), and defeated Pacific, 9-8. The Tigers then suffered their second loss on the weekend when UC Irvine defeated Pacific, 12-9, on Sunday, Oct. 31.

    Scouting the Gauchos
    The Gauchos, coached by Wolf Wigo in his sixth season, are currently 1-2 in MPSF action (10-6 overall). UCSB's leading scorer is senior Milos Golic with 45 goals in 16 games for a 2.81 goals per game average. Earlier this season the Gauchos defeated the Tigers, 9-5, at the NorCal Tournament. In the loss Pacific was led by Erdelyi and Tomasevic who scored two goals apiece, while Koning found the back of the net once. Freshman Alex Malkis(Yoqneam, Israel) registered nine saves in the cage for Pacific.

    The Tigers return to acation against No. 11 Santa Clara University on Friday, Nov. 5 at 3 p.m. at Chris Kjeldsen Pool. Pacific then hosts No. 6 UC Santa Barbara on Sunday, Nov. 7 at 12 p.m.
