Head of the Pacific Rowing Regatta Scheduled for Downtown Stockton

    Oct 5, 2010

The third annual Head of the Pacific fall classic regatta will be held on Sunday, October 17th at Morelli park along the newly revitalized downtown Stockton waterway. Part of Pacific's Parent and family weekend, this event is gaining more new teams each year coming to experience the fantastic downtown Stockton waterway.

Sponsored by Pacific Rowing and with generous support from the Stockton Sports commission, Head of the Pacific is a 5000 meter race ending in front of the warehouse business complex on Weber avenue along the newly developed Joan Darrah promenade. This growing  regatta will feature approximately 20 teams  from High schools, adult programs, and collegiate programs all across central California.

Defending perpetual team trophy winner Pacific Crew,  will defend the team title on their home water against the likes of Sac state, Cal Maritime, Mills, and Santa Clara.

Deep Water Rowing Association,  Pacific Rowing'  community programs for adults and high school age athletes, gaining national recognition through racing successes last year, will race club programs from all across the bay area and Sacramento.

Director of Rowing and Pacific Head Coach Eric Weir says he looks forward to defending the team title against strong competition, and is pleased with the growth of the regatta..."thanks to strong support from the Stockton Sports commission, our top sponsor, this regatta has been able to provide an excellent venue and great racing experience for all participants...as we grow each year, more and more teams are coming and discovering the outstanding spectator opportunities available along the recently developed Joan Darrah promenade."

Racing starts at 9am and will continue until 2pm. Refreshments and  event t-shirts will be available for purchase, and admission is free.
