Students to Design the “Look” of Pacific’s New Food Truck
Bon Appétit is hosting a "Bling Our Truck" contest for Pacific students. The student who submits the best design for the outside of the truck will win a $1,000 scholarship.
The truck is a mobile kitchen that is being custom designed to offer a variety of hot and cold food dishes on the Stockton campus during special events. The truck also will offer breakfast and lunch services to students on the "south campus," the area of campus south of Dave Brubeck Way and between Kensington Way and Pershing Avenue. That part of campus currently does not have regular food service for students, faculty or staff.
"We have heard concerns from students that they often don't have enough time to buy lunch and then get to their class on South Campus, so we hope this truck will help solve this problem" said Sia Mohsenzadegan, director of food services for Bon Appétit on the Stockton Campus. "Since this is being done for the students, we thought it would be appropriate to let the students design the paint job for the truck."
The design for the truck's paint job has a few guidelines: the truck must prominently feature the name "e.a.t." (Easy Artisan Take-out), incorporate the Bon Appétit Management Company Logo, and be in good taste and free of profanity or potentially offensive material. Designs must be submitted to Bon Appétit by 12:01 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20. Bon Appétit employees on the Stockton campus will review all submissions and then pick the best five. The five finalists will then be posted online at the end of September so students can vote for their favorite.
Official rules, guidelines and submission information can be found at www.sustainablediningatpacific.com/blingmytruck. Photos of the truck also have been posted on Flickr so would-be artists can get an idea of the shape and size of the truck.
The truck is expected to go into service by mid-October. When in use, it will serve a wide-variety of food, from bagels and omelets to hot and cold sandwiches. A full menu can be found online.
