Pacific’s Student Pharmacists Kick-Off American Pharmacist Month with The Price is Right

    Sep 2, 2010

Students from Pacific's American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) attended a taping of The Price is Right in hopes of being selected as contestants on the show. The 48 first and second year students, along with 2 faculty members, traveled to Los Angeles the evening of Sunday, August 29th to be in the studio on Monday, August 30th. In the studio, the group was split in half and cast in two different episodes of the show. The first episode is scheduled to air October 28, 2010 at 10:00 am and the second group airs on November 1, 2010 at 10:00 am, both on CBS.

Pharmacy Students before they enter the Price is Right studio"The Price is Right seemed like a great way to promote the school and ASP and American Pharmacist Month which starts in October," said ASP's VP of Student Affairs, Michael Conner '12. "I thought this would be a great way to kick off early," Conner added. His idea seems to have been a success. The students reported that show host Drew Carey mentioned that October is American Pharmacist's Month on two occasions.

Pharmacy Students Mazin Boushakra and Rashda Riaz, who were selected as contestants for the Price is RightStudents designed shirts with the slogan "Know Your Medicine, Know Your Pharmacist-APM" that proudly wore during the tapings. Prior to the trip Conner said, "Hopefully, one of us will be called to Come on Down so that we can give Drew Carey a shirt...and possibly win a car." His hopes were answered when two first year students, Rashda Riaz '13 and Mazin Boushakra '13 were called down to be contestants.

Tune in to watch The Price is Right on October 28th and November 1st and find out if our students will be one of the lucky winners!
