Gullikson to Represent USA
Former Pacific Men's Water Polo student-athlete Joey Gullikson has been selected to participate in the 12th Pan American Maccabi Games as a member of the U.S. Men's Water Polo team.
The games will take place in Sao Paulo, Brazil, from December 26 through January 2, 2012.
In his two seasons as a Tiger, Gullikson amassed 65 goals, 52 assists, and 38 steals in 49 career matches. The Sonoma native earned MPSF Player of the Week honors as a junior and was named the NCAA's Men's Water Polo Player of the Week after his five-goal performance led Pacific to a road upset over then-No. 3 Stanford.
"It is quite an accomplishment to be able to represent your country," Pacific head coach James Graham said. "Joey continues to represent Pacific Men's Water Polo at a high level, and we wish him and the team the best of luck in Brazil."
Gullikson is joined by three other players who have Mountain Pacific Sports Federation experience. Devon Borisof was a starter at USC before earning Defensive MVP honors at the 200f Pan Am Games. Cory Nasoff earned All-America honors while at California and was a member of the bronze-medal squad at the 2011 World University Games this past summer. Michael Rosenthal, currently a junior at USC, is also on the team.
