Pacific Golf: Tigers Slip To Third To Finish The Arizona Intercollegiate
Sitting just two strokes back with three holes to play, the Pacific golf team faltered in the final few holes of play at the Arizona Intercollegiate to drop into a tie for third place in the final standings on Tuesday, February 1. With weather wreaking havoc in day one, the Tigers and the rest of the 16 team field were forced to finish the second round of action in the morning before teeing-off the final 18 holes just before the afternoon.
The Tigers finished play at the Par 71, 6,793 yard Arizona National course at +17, 869 after posting a final round +6, 290. Earlier in the day the Tigers completed at +6, 290 for round two, a round which spanned two days after beginning late on the first day of action. San Diego State took home the team title with a three round total of 859, +7.
Individually, senior Patrick Kucich put together a steady two days of play to finish sixth in the standings. The senior posted a -1, 70 in the final round to finish with a +2, 215. Just below his fellow classmate, senior T.J. Bordeaux put a rough second round behind him to post a final round 69, -2. With his push on the final day, he ended his two day tournament at +3, 216 to finish tied for seventh in the individual race for the tournament championship. Pepperdine's Andrew Putnam took home the individual championship by shooting a 206, -7, over the three rounds.
The Tigers will be off the course for another month before teeing-off again when they take part in the Fresno Lexus Classic in Fresno, Calif. on March 7-8. The tournament is hosted by Fresno State at Sunnyside Country Club.
