    Pacific Men's Basketball - Oral Roberts 79, Pacific 63

    The Tiger men's basketball team dropped a 79-63 decision at Oral Roberts on Saturday, Feb. 19 in a Sears Bracketbusters matchup. The Tigers dropped to 15-11 overall, while Oral Roberts improved to 15-14.

    The Tigers bounced out to a 4-0 lead on the way to a 14-5 advantage with 13:39 to play in the half thanks to seven early points from sophomore Allen Huddleston (Merced, Calif.). Oral Roberts then used a 17-5 run of its own to claim a 22-19 lead with 6:55 to play in the half. Senior Demetrece Young (Oklahoma City, Okla.), playing about an hour from his hometown, hit his first three-pointer of the game to knot it up at 22-22. The Golden Eagles scored seven straight followed by seven in a row by the Tigers to even it up at 29-29 with 2:08 to go. Senior Nyika Williams (Kingstown, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines) scored on a pair of dunks in the 7-0 Tiger stretch. He had a team-best 11 points in the first half. Oral Roberts was able to pull ahead again, taking a 33-30 lead into the break.

    In the opening seconds of the seconds of the second half, Oral Roberts' Damen Bell-Holter hit a three-pointer to give the Golden Eagles at 36-30 lead. Young and Huddleston each hit one of two from the free throw line on the next two trips for the Tigers to cut the lead to 36-32 with 18:36 to play, but Oral Roberts outscored Pacific 13-4 over the next five minutes to take a 49-36 lead. The Golden Eagles' lead did not fall below double digits the rest of the way, as the lead rose to as much as 20. Oral Roberts shot 63.8 percent from the field for the game and 82.6 percent from the field in the second half.

    Williams had a career-high 18 points for the Tigers. Huddleston added 11 points and senior Pat Eveland (San Diego, Calif.) had 10 points. Oral Roberts' leading scorer on the season, Dominique Morrison, scored 29 points with 23 coming in the second half.
