Woman's Waterpolo: No. 19 Pacific Defeats No. 18 Princeton, 6-4, To Finish Princeton Invitational Undefeated

Facing host Princeton in the final game of the Princeton Invitational on Sunday, February 13, the women's water polo team defeated the Tigers 6-4 to finish the weekend undefeated. With the win Pacific improved to 6-3 on the season.

To start the contest, Pacific gained an early two point advantage outscoring Princeton 2-0 in the first frame. However Princeton limited Pacific to one goal in the second quarter while finding the back of the net three times to tie the contest 3-3 heading into the half. During the third quarter, Pacific's defense shutout Princeton behind three saves from Michele Relton(Beaconsfield, QC, Canada) while the Tigers notched two goals to take the 5-3 lead heading in the final eight minutes of regulation. In the final frame Princeton notched its fourth goal of the contest while Pacific found the back of the net once to seal the 6-4 victory.

Individually the Tigers were led by Mandy King (Benicia, Calif.) and Malena Prlain (Portland, Ore.) who tallied a pair of goals while Elise Martin (Calgary, AB, Canada) and Dara Tawarahara (Honolulu, Hawaii) posted one goal apiece. Freshman Michele Relton(Beaconsfield, QC, Canada) registered 10 saves in the cage for Pacific.

Pacific returns home on Saturday, February 19 to host California Baptist in a 10 a.m. contest.
