Women Waterpolo: No. 19 Pacific Hosts California Baptist, No. 1 Stanford
After dominating the competition at the Princeton Invitational last weekend, Pacific's women's water polo team returns to Chris Kjeldsen Pool for a pair of non-conference games against California Baptist and No. 1 Stanford. The Tigers will take on California Baptist on Saturday, February 19 before taking on No. 1 Stanford on Sunday, February 20.
Traveling to the east coast February 12-13 for the Princeton Invitational, the Tigers outscored the opposition 49-17 during the two day tournament. Pacific's best offensive effort came in the second game of the tournament when the Tigers downed Villanova 19-2. In the game Pacific was paced by Siobhan Larsen (Mundelein, Ill.) tallied four goals while 11 Tigers found the back of the net during regulation.
Freshman Michele Relton (Beaconsfield, QC, Canada) had a strong weekend in the cage for Pacific racking up 47 saves in four games for an 11.75 blocks per game average. She also limited opponents to 17 goals on the weekend for a 4.25 goals against average. Offensively senior Dara Tawarahara (Honolulu, Hawaii) and freshman Malena Prlain (Portland, Ore.) finshed the weekend with seven goals through four games for a 1.75 goals per game average.
Collegiate Water Polo Association
Pacific's women's water polo team remains at the No. 19 spot in the latest poll released by the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) on February 16, 2011. Pacific began the season as the No. 18 team in the nation and has spent the past four weeks at the No. 19 spot.
