    Pacific Women's Swimming: Pacific Defeated By UC Davis, 184-105

    Competing in their second meet in six days, Pacific's women's swim team fell to UC Davis 184-105. With the loss the Tigers fell to 5-3 (4-1 MPSF) on the year.

    The Tigers 400 Free Relay team consisting of MaryElla Randall (Walnut Creek, Calif.), Mallory McGowan (Colusa, Calif.), Hayley Shillington (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) and Jayme Swalin (Kenmore, Wash.) commenced the meet with a third place finish when the group collectively had a time of 3:38.48.

    Individually Randall and McGowan also recorded a pair of second place finishes in their respective races. Randall's first came in the 50 Free when she touched the wall in 24.05 and was followed with a third place finish from Becca Wyant (Redmond, Wash.) with a time of 25.05. Randall then recoded her final number to finish in the 100 Free with a time of 53.48. While McGowan finished second in both the 100 Breast (1:06.49) and 200 Breast (2:23.97).

    In the first individual race of the day freshmen Katie McBride (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Lydia Schramm (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) had back-to-back finishes to round out the top five of the 1000 Free, when they recorded times of 10:44.21 and 10:54.20 respectively.

    Leading the way for Pacific in the Fly events was junior Elena Walterman (Framingham, Mass.). Walterman had the Tigers top finishes on the day in the 100 Fly (58.85) and 200 Fly (2:09.54) when she nabbed a second and first place finish. Additionally leading the way for the Tigers in the Back events were freshmen Shelby Bolin (Blue Springs, Mo.) and Bo Cameron (Weymouth, England). Bolin finished second in the 100 Back with a time of 1:00.85 while Cameron came in third in the 200 Back when she touched the wall in 2:11.17

    In the mid-distance events Shillington registered a first place finish in the 500 Free for Pacific with a pace of 5:07.45. While Swalin and Lia Santini (Bothell, Wash.) nabbed the top two positions in the 400 IM for the Tigers with times of 4:35.21 and 4:44.78 respectively.

    The Tigers 200 Medley Relay "A" team comprised of Wyant, McGowan, Walterman and Randall had a combined time of 1:48.54 to log a first place finish in the closing races of the meet.

    Pacific returns to the pool in Saturday, January 22 at noon. The Tigers will host Fresno Pacific and UC Santa Cruz in the final home meet of the season at Chris Kjeldsen Pool. On this day Pacific will honor graduating seniors Danny Platow (Westport, Conn.), David Hernandez (Chico, Calif.), Steven Woods (Walnut Creek, Calif.), Tyler Hannis (Santa Rosa, Calif.) and Chris Berg (Chico, Calif.) of the men's swim team.
