Pacific Swimming invitational
The Pacific swim teams concluded the 2011 Arena Invitational Saturday, November 19, behind some solid individual performances at Belmont Olympic Pool.
Continuing his impressive showing at the Arena Invite was sophomore Oliver Simkovic. He took his second top-ten finish of the meet, this time in the 200 Back when he touched the wall at 1:47.32, good for sixth. Freshman Brandon Presswood took 20th and senior Kevin Byers took 24th in the same event, with times of 1:54.35 and 1:56.16, respectively.
Freshman Brandon Chandler finished seventh in the 1650 Free behind a time of 15:46.05. Junior Zach Zlotoff came in 16th in the same event with a time of 16:07.57.
The Tigers had four men's swimmers earn berths in the final heats of the 200 Breast. Senior Roger Ward led the group with a 14th-place finish behind a time of 2:06.33. Classmate Nate LeRoy took 20th with a time of 2:05.97 while freshman Cody Burkard earned 26th with a time of 2:07.56. Coming in 31st was freshman Cameron Franke, who clocked in at 2:10.32.
Junior Jenna Chaplin clocked in at 2:04.00 in the 200 Fly, good for 20th. Taking 22nd in their respective events were senior Jayme Swalin in the 1650 Free (17:16.08) and junior Mallory McGowan in the 200 Breast (2:20.62).
The men's 200 Fly saw sophomore Dai Wilson come in at 22nd with a time of 1:54.56 while junior Sean Dunnigan took 26th with a time of 1:53.91. Junior RJ Barton finished with a time of 1:55.90, good for 30th.
Freshman Cooper Rogers clocked in at 46.40 to finish 27th in the 100 Free while sophomore Taylor Moore earned 29th place in the same event with a time of 46.55. Sophomore Shelby Bolin came in 28th in the 200 Back with a time of 2:02.75.
The men's 400 Free Relay team, made up of junior Kevin Schirmer, Moore, freshman Casey Fleming, and Rogers, claimed seventh with a time of 3:02.91. Their female counterparts, made up of freshman Dekel Shahaf, sophomore MaryElla Randall, McGowan, and Swalin, finished 10th with a time of 3:29.54.
