Nine Students Awarded Summer Research Internships

Dr. Lydia K. Fox, Director of Undergraduate Research, announces that the following students have been awarded Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships for 2012:

Sarah Wong will work with Dr. Katerina Venderova (Pharmacy) on: "Role of LLRK2-Interacting Protein. RAD21, in Neruonal Death"

Michael Moore will work with Dr. Elizabeth Basha (Electrical and Computer Engineering)  on "Wireless Battery Charging with an Aerial Robot"

Jennifer Johnson will work with Dr. Elizabeth Basha (Electrical and Computer Engineering) on "Ad Hoc Senor Networks Sinks and Topology Algorithm"

Jessica Fong will work with Dr. Monika Meler (Visual Arts) on "Papermaking:  A Form of Sustainable Art"

Brittany Klemm will work with Dr. Kurtis Burmeister (Earth & Environmental Sciences) on "Resolving the geologic evolution of the Mount Tallac region with geologic mapping of crosscutting relationships; Desolation Wilderness, El Dorado County, California"

Kai-Hsiang Chang will work with Dr. Kirkwood Land (Biological Sciences) on  "Characterization and localization of subtilisin-like serine proteases in Trichomonas vaginalis as new chemotherapeutic targets"

Fnu Mustafa will work with Dr. Qingwen Dong (Communication) on "The Impact of Social Media on Afghan Young Adults' Self-Esteem and Voluntary Behaviors"

Austin Tuttle will work with Dr. John Mayberry (Math) on "Pandemic Proliferation at Pacific"

Halima Lucas will work with Dr. Teresa Bergman (Communication) on "Intergenerational Cultural Dissonance in Cambodian American Families Documentary"
