Pacific to offer Master of Science in Industrial Pharmaceutics in collaboration with Alliance Institute, Hyderabad, India

University of the Pacific has entered into collaboration with Alliance Institute of India to offer a master of science (MS) program in industrial pharmaceutics. In this program, students take courses in the first semester at Alliance and then transfer to the United States to complete the remaining courses and research at Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, University of the Pacific.

Program details:
During the first semester, Alliance will provide training towards meeting requirements of the University of the Pacific. After successful completion of first semester at Alliance and fulfilling admission requirements, Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), and visa requirements, students can further their studies at University of the Pacific. Passing the GRE is not a prerequisite for admission.

If a student fails to meet University of the Pacific admission/visa requirements, they have the option to continue their course and research work at Alliance or do research work at University of the Pacific to fulfill requirements for a MS degree in India.

There are no graduate assistantships available through the program. Students will be responsible for tuition fees and other expenses (including but not limited to room and board, travel, health care, health insurance).

About Alliance:
Due to the globalization and subsequent increase in outsourcing of the pharmaceutical industry, the need for industry-ready pharmaceutical scientists is growing. Even though there is great pool of pharmaceutical talent, there is a big gap between pharmaceutical industry needs and the skills of current pharmacy graduates. To bridge this gap, Alliance Institute of Advanced Pharmaceutical & Health Sciences (Alliance) was started in 2009 with a mission to prepare practice-ready professionals for pharmaceutical and health sciences Industry. Alliance is offering first of a kind MS programs tailored to provide pragmatic training to students seeking careers in the pharmaceutical industry. At Alliance, the curriculum is based on Indian and International academic standards and is taught by experienced faculty from India and abroad.

Alliance has state of the art classrooms with video conferencing facility to enable our faculty from USA to teach and interact with students. Alliance lab facility includes an exclusive HPLC lab, 12 station rotary tablet press, dissolution baths and disintegration apparatus, and UV Vis-spectrophotometer. Alliance has a comprehensive library with international journal access and computer lab to support research activities by our students.

In 2010, Pacific entered into research collaboration with Alliance Institute. This program is applicable to all Alliance students including students from industrial pharmaceutics program who fail to meet University of the Pacific admission/visa requirements. Alliance students have an option to do research work at the University of the Pacific under the guidance of any faculty in Pharmaceutics and Medicinal Chemistry department to fulfill requirements for MS degree in India.
