Prowlin the Pacific

Apr 16, 2012

On Saturday April 21st, the University of the Pacific will host their second annual "Prowlin Pacific" community festival.  This event is a free, family-oriented community festival and will take place on the lawns of the De Rosa University Center in Stockton, CA.  The community festival was designed to support Pacific's "Beyond the Gates" initiative to bring the University of the Pacific closer to the surrounding communities and at the same time offer a family friendly environment to showcase local businesses.   The majority of proceeds from the event will benefit kids from the El Dorado Elementary School who want to attend science camp but cannot afford it.

"Prowlin Pacific" was created and is managed by students from the Eberhardt School of Business as part of an experiential learning exercise where students engage in practical applications of material learned in the classroom. This year's festival will host more than forty food, art and business vendors.   There will be live entertainment from Latin Magic and several other regional bands.  The festival will feature door prizes, a skate competition, art exhibition, classic car show, wine, beer and sake tasting, a "kiddie corner", bounce houses, a jousting competition and lots of good shopping.  Last year over $2000 was donated to the El Dorado Elementary Science Camp fund.

A major feature of the festival is the skate competition.  Last year once again Slips Skate shop partnered with us again to manage the skate competition and even though they doubled their participants last year they expect even more skaters this year! According to Eric Torres the owner of Slips "This year is going to be the biggest yet".

Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy a safe, family-oriented event where they can enjoy an afternoon filled with entertainment and fun on Pacific's campus."
