Alison Alkon, Assistant Professor of Sociology at UOP, will lead a Sustainability Month panel discussion at 6pm, on April 18 about how inequalities of race and class intersect with the food system.

Panelists will include:  Yvonne Yen Liu, Senior Researcher at the Applied Research Center and author of The Color of Food; Sara Schaefer, Associate Director of Educational Programs at the Foods For Health Institute, UC Davis; and a representative from the Western Farm Workers Association.

Alkon's edited volume Cultivating Food Justice was published in Fall 2011.
