Tigers Sign Mirella Mattos For 2012
University of the Pacific Head Women's Soccer Coach Keith Coleman has announced the signing of Mirella Mattos for the 2012 season.
Mattos is a 5-4 midfielder/forward from Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. She will come to Pacific as a sophomore after one year at Western Texas College in Snyder, Texas. She teamed with future Tiger teammate Rebecca Germano to guide the Lady Westerners to a 15-4 record in Region 5, finishing as runner-up after dropping a 2-1 decision to Cisco in the Regional Tournament. Mirella earned NCJAA All-American Honorable Mention and First Team All-Region 5 honors after scoring a team-best 22 goals and passing off 11 assists. Mattos and Germano combined to score 43 goals. She played with the Brazilian National Team U-17 in 2009.
"We are extremely happy to be adding Mirella to our team," said Coleman. "She is an extremely skillful and athletic attacking player who has a great understanding of the game. Her pervious experience with her youth national team and success as a Junior College All-American supports our belief that she has the ability to be an impact player."
