Four Tigers Earn NFCA Academic All-America Honors For 2011-12

Dec 6, 2012

With the release of the 2012 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar-Athlete awards on Thursday, December 6, the Pacific softball team saw four of its student-athletes garner the top academic award. For the 2011-12 academic year, Megan Allen, Megan Hom, Kelsey Rodriguez, and Alex Steinmehl were honored for their work in the classroom. Overall, the four Tigers represented half of the recipients from the Big West as Cal Poly also placed four on the awards list.

The award was bestowed upon any player submitted by a member coach who achieved a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the 2011-12 academic year.  The honor marks the second component of the Association's academic award program.

For the year, 140 Division I porgrams were represented by athletes earning the award. Almost 600 different academic institutions across all divisions were tabbed as 2012 NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes. For a complete listing of all NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes across all membership divisions, please visit the official release at https://nfca.org/index.php/front-page-news/5014-thousands-reap-2011-12-nfca-all-american-scholar-athlete-accolades
