Rivera Named Big West Player of the Week

Pacific junior Ross Rivera was selected as Big West Conference Player of the Week on Monday, Dec. 10. It is Rivera's first weekly award.

Ross led the Tigers to a pair of victories last week, coming off the bench in both games after starting the first seven. He shot 63.2% from the field, hitting 12 of 19 shots. Rivera scored a season-high 17 pooints against USF on Dec. 8, pulling down six rebounds. He scored the 17 points in just 15 minutes against USF. With USF leading 37-29, he scored nine points in a 13-2 run that gave the Tigers their first lead of the game (42-39) with 11:55 to play. He also scored a basket with :27 left that gave the Tigers a 65-59 lead to help secure the victory. He scored nine points in the first half against Nevada on Dec. 4, finishing with 14 points. For the week he averaged 15.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.

Pacific is next in action with a home game against Santa Clara on Saturday, Dec. 15 at 5:00 p.m.
