Ron and Margaret Redmond Give $5 Million Dollar Gift for New San Francisco Campus
Former Regent and alumnus Ron Redmond '66 and his wife Margaret have made a leadership gift of $5 million for the creation of Pacific's new San Francisco campus. The gift will help fund the $151 million renovation of 155 Fifth Street in San Francisco's South of Market (SOMA) neighborhood. The building will be the new home of the University's prestigious Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry as well as other new academic programs. It is the largest single gift to the University since 2008, and the largest gift ever to the dental school.
"As a Pacific graduate, Ron exemplifies the kind of visionary leadership that comes from the education we provide," said Pacific President Pamela A. Eibeck. "He and Margaret are an inspiration to our students, our faculty and staff, and our alumni."
"Many of the giants in our lives are the educators we were blessed to encounter at the Dugoni School," said Ron Redmond. "Giving generously to your school is the best way to honor those very special people who inspired you and who will inspire countless others."
Ron Redmond is a 1966 graduate of the dental school and has a successful orthodontics practice. He served on the University Board of Regents from 2004 to 2012, where he chaired the Advancement Committee. He is a former president of the Pacific Dugoni Foundation, the dental school's fundraising arm, of which he was a member for nearly 20 years. He chaired the dental school's Commitment to Excellence campaign, which raised more than $65 million.
"Ron and Margaret are true philanthropists who care deeply about the success of Pacific," said Dr. Patrick J. Ferrillo, Jr., dean of the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. "Their generosity is more than just financial. They regularly get involved in our school's programs, support our people and share their talents with our students. They are a wonderful couple and we thank them greatly for this gift, and their many years of generosity in all forms."
Ron and Margaret Redmond are active philanthropists who support University of the Pacific and many other California arts, cultural and educational organizations. Margaret is a retired elementary school teacher. The couple has three children. Two sons are alumni of the dental school and now work for their father's practice.
